Help from any southbound Atl. coast racers?

I have two newly purchased Recaro race seats that need to find a way from New Jersey to North Carolina. They are big and can only be shipped by truck - and then at some risk of damage, I discovered the hard way. I'm kind of hoping I can find someone coming to VIR or Lowe's for race, who has...

PCAs will be approved - no question

The symbolic interactionist in me can't believe that the SCCA mouthpiece SportsCar would have published this month's article on PCAs, were they not a slam dunk at this point. I hope that some serious thought has gone into considering possible unanticipated outcomes of this decision... K

    Logic - If X is in A, Y should be in S

I think Darin sort of asked this question in the Thread That Ate IT.com but here's a chance to present those logic bomb classification oddities, wherein two cars with essentially the same specs are in different classes - or where a car with evidently inferior specs is in a higher class. The...

Designing sway bar - very upset!

I can't for the life of me find my C. Smith "to Win" books, four years and two moves after I last saw them! This is getting VERY serious... Can someone out there help me out with the formula for tubular anti-roll bar rates, while I decide where else I might look - or if I need to order new...

    grega gets (even more) famous

Congratulations to my soon-to-be VIR 13-hour enduro team-mate Greg Amy for the great article in the most recent copy of Grassroots Motorsport, titled "If I Only Had a Brain." K

13 Hours at Virginia International Raceway

Is anyone else planning on running the Charge of the Headlight Brigade 13 hours in October? We are and I'm thinking about being proactive and coordinating sharing a pit with someone so we don't have to take pot luck. They are accepting 90 entries and there are only 50 pit spaces so the math is...

    MkIII Wheel Spacers?

Anyone tried fitting 9" section-width tires (Toyo 225s/50s) and 6" wheels on a MkIII yet? How much spacer can/must you put in there? K

    Corner weighting gnomes...

...came to my house and set up my Golf. Understand that I still have OEM struts and springs on my '96 GTI when I tell you this: Someone asked what the car weighs so I went back to the slip that I got in post-race impound at the VIR regional a couple weeks ago. I hadn't looked at it since...

    IT National Issues Survey

I've put together an ad hoc survey asking for feedback on national-level issues relating to Improved Touring. It is 12 questions long and should take only a few minutes to complete. I would appreciate it if you would do so, at... http://www.zoomerang.com/recipient/survey-...?p=WEB2EVNWQJYJ...

    VIR March 20-21?

Who's going to be at VIR this weekend (March 20/21) for the SARRC/CCPS/ECR weekend? I'll be there Saturday only with the Golf in SSC. Sadly, the longterm forecast is for sunny skies... Kirk

    Endure 13 hours at VIR?

I have officially started planning for entering the Golf the "Baker's Dozen" endurance race at VIR, October 22-23. The simplest plan would be to run it in SSC but I wouldn't rule out doing a bolt-on suspension transformation (and maybe gearbox) to put it in ITB. The latter would make it a...

    Definition of "Customer Service"

It's only because the vast majority of the vendors that I threw money at preparing my car were so GOOD, that I am left having to spotlight on that is not: Racer Wholesale. Since I have a big head - more than figuratively, it seems - I couldn't get it into the largest Bell XFM1 made if I wore a...

    ITCS Language Could be Worse

There is a groovy site that automatically runs any English phrase through Altavista's BabelFish site to translate it into another language, then translate it back to English, then repeat the process until no further mutation occurs. This is the IT Intent statement translated to German and back...

    RECARO Bottom Cushion

I have a SPG Racer with the thick (55mm) seat pad. Headroom is an issue for me and I'd be interested to see if there is anyone out there with a recent model SPG or SPA who has the thing (25mm) seat cushion and might be interested in a trade. If the seat of your RECARO is essentially flat, then...

    ITB Honda??

Okay - how about this? Since the Civic CX is in ITC, '96+ Civic EX is in A, and the earlier generation is headed there, how about a request to either (a) get the '92-95 DX moved from A to B, or (B) list the later DX in B in the first place? The latter would probably be a dead cinch. Hmm? Kirk

    Mmm - Power

I don't mean like "horsepower" - I mean the power of knowledge. I just set up a laptop with VAG COM and an interface from www.cartechsolutions.com and it took me about 5 minutes to decide that it was worth all of the $175 that it cost for the hardware and fully licensed version of the software...

Frozen lug bolts - a trip to hell

ARGH. The locking lug bolts on the back of the GTI are FROZEN in place. They resisted penetrating oil and a ton of whacking with the air impact on "5" before the little key thingy finally gave up the ghost and busted. Damn NoVA salt and idiots who don't know how LOOSE 80 lb-ft of torque...
