Feb NER Club Racing Board meeting

Items of note from last night's meeting: * Tow hooks. Don't forget that they're mandatory this year, with an inside diameter of 2 inches. Tech is not out to scalp anybody; if you get your car teched at the first NHIS race and your tow hooks are not in, you will be allowed to race that weekend...

    UNOFFICIAL 2005 schedule

The big news out of last night's Club Racing Meeting is the 2005 schedule. This is reasonably firm, but by no means official. If I have a few details wrong, forgive me - Dick or Brian can correct any errors. Apr 15-17: School and regional, NHIS May 6-7: School and regional, LRP July 9-10...

Auto Meter tach in a 13B

I use an Auto Meter tach in my ITS RX-7. These tachs are set up for 8-cylinder engines; for others, you clip a wire or two. When I installed the tach, someone told me to clip the brown wire (which is what you do for most 6-cylinder engines). I did so, and the tach reads funky. Basically, it...

    RR board meeting Friday

The monthly road race board meeting is tomorrow (7:30, Best Western, Rte 20, Auburn MA) and I'm afraid I can't make it. Is anybody willing to sit in as an IT drivers' rep? I promise I'll stop missing meetings once summer ends! /Steve U 05 ITS

    Club Racing Board meeting

Here's what we discussed: 1. Tom Murphy of Club Motorsports explained and answered questions about the proposed new track. They need 4 more permits, all of which are before various agencies. They hope to open the shorter (1.4 mi) course by April 1, 2005. Tom has really educated himself about...

    Engine swap horror stories

I'm writing an article for Grassroots Motorsports on engine swaps. The story will have lots of practical advice and tips, but I also want to sqeeze in a few don't-try-this-at-home anecdotes. So if you've got a disastrous story about the first time you replaced an engine, I'm all ears. The more...

    Friday Club Racing meeting

The monthly Club Racing meeting is tomorrow (7:30pm, Best Western, Rte. 20, Auburn, MA), and I can't make it this time. Any ITSers out there want to fill in for me? We do tend to have a decent turnout of IT drivers anyway. This meeting will probably feature mucho discussion of the SM race...

    What water pump is this?

I have a Mazda water pump with the following part number: B6BF-15-010F. Anybody know what car it goes with? (How I got this mystery part is a long story.) Thanks! /Steve U Flatout Motorsports 05 ITS New England Region

May Club Racing Meeting report (July 4 Miata update)

I'm pressed for time (trying to get my daughter's softball game in before it pours again), but here are two items of note from last night's meeting: 1. Possible Miata race at LRP during the July 4 weekend. Here's my effort to untangle this: NER has been asked by the promoter to pay (dearly!) to...

    NER Club Racing Board meeting

Monthly meeting tomorrow night - any issues you'd like to see raised by your Drivers' Rep? If so, respond here or email me: steve_u <AT> flatout-motorsports.com. On the agenda are post-mortems of the LRP school and regional; if any aspect of these events went exceptionally well or poorly from...

April meeting - cool ALMS opportunity

Friday's meeting included a big post mortem of what went right and wrong at the NHIS school and Regional. It sounds like the 2-day Super School was a huge success. You'll recall that it was closely scrutinized by skeptical club officials. As it turns out, those officials came away impressed and...

    April board meeting

We've got a meeting tomorrow night. As usual, I'm happy to raise any questions you have. I missed this past weekend's race, but I imagine there will be mucho discussion of the Camoflage Flag that was thrown during the ITS/ITB fracas (or maybe not; it sounds like somebody made an honest mistake...

    regional road racing board meeting

We met last night, and I'm proud to say Jake Gulick and the Brothers Blethen showed up -- so this bulletin board was well represented. Here, in no particular order, are items of interest: * For the April 18 Regional at NHIS, your first shot at Tech is Saturday April 17, 4-6PM. All Tech sessions...

    Comp Board meeting Friday

Friday, I will attend my second Comp Board meeting as a driver's rep. In general, my approach is to keep my mouth shut and listen up for any news that will affect IT and SSM/SM drivers. If there are any issues you'd like me to raise at the meeting, post them here or email me at...

    IT to World Challenge

    RWD to FWD

I'm interested in the experiences of people who've raced a RWD car, then switched over to FWD. (For argument's sake, let's say the cars are roughly similar in capabilities - jumping from an ITA 240SX to an ITA Acura, for instance.) What's it like making the leap? Is FWD any less fun or...

    2nd gen lateral link

I bent a rear-suspension lateral link on my '86 RX-7. Last night, in trying to remove it, I was unable to get the inboard bolt all the way out -- it hits the tub. On the other hand, it was *almost* out, and I was tired, so I didn't try that hard. The question is: Do I need to loosen up the rear...

    2nd-gen fuel test port

Can anybody recommend a fuel test port setup that works well for a second-gen RX-7(along with where to get it)? Many thanks.
