Anyone know a source?
I run an MK3 golf and it seems like Hoosier has more options for me if I move to a 15" rim. But the rules require a 6" wide one. All I can find are 6.5" wide ones.
Any thoughts of 14" versus 15"?
Thanks,

Autocrossers do it all the time. Only testing will tell you whether or not it's faster.Maybe I can try and squeeze the 225/45/15 onto the 6" rim - Anyone done it?[/b]
Not sure yet. If I'm coming we'll definitely try to get together. Thanksgiving is more likely than Christmas.Josh - yep - and more and more testing... although with the new data acquisition it will make it easier.
I still need to get a video camera setup... too many options! Are you coming east for the holidays? If you do you should call me and we can get together.[/b]
I squeeze 225/45R13 hoosiers on 13x6 wheels. Heck until we found the 6's they were on 5.5's!Maybe I can try and squeeze the 225/45/15 onto the 6" rim - Anyone done it?

rabbidmk1 - do you use spacers front and rear? What size?
I just ordered a set of SSR rims - will have them Wed.
Thanks!

It's not just a function of getting the tire ON the wheel, it's the profile that results. A 45 series tire is going to generally be less forgiving of less-than-optimal wheel width, creating a funky profile that doesn't put the tread on the track as anticipated.
Check with PhilTireService.com and see what he recommends but I'd be surprised to find out that a taller tire makes you faster, unless you are running out of revs in 5th someplace, for more than a little while...

Oh, and this is one the exact reasons that i proposed that we allow 7" rims in ITC/ITB. How do i go about submitting the rule change letter?

I have no idea if the hoosiers are designed for narrower rims then the Kumos.
From the hoosier tire sheet:
The 225/50-15 have a tread width of 8.8 and a section width of 9.8 recommended rim size is 6-8" [/b]
