2011 ITB Dodge Daytona weight

Have I lost my mind? :shrug:
I could have sworn that there was a Technical Bulletin to reduce the ITB Dodge Daytona weight to 2380 lbs for 2011 but I can't find it. The updated on-line GCR (through the April Technical Bulletins) still lists it as 2630 lbs. so it appears that is the weight as of right now.

Was there a Technical Bulletin to change the weight for 2011 or was I dreaming? Josh? Jeff? Anybody?

I'll look into it. We voted to move it to ITC. I thought the interim solutino was since we missed the deadline for the class move, the idea was to allow it to run in ITB and the still lower ITC weight for 11, and then a move to C in 12. I will check, and sorry for the confusion.

This car classification is older than 5 years. Changing the weight would not be in accord with 9.1.3.C next to last paragraph.
However, the ITAC plans to consider a rule change proposal to address modifications of older IT classifications.

That's the part I can't find, the separate Technical Bulletin item.

No, Chris, that's the weight correction on the Shelby Charger and GLH, not the Daytona.

Question: Does he Daytona and the GLH/Charger use the same 2.2 liter motor?

Edit. looked at GCR and they have different compression ratios. I am guessing other things are different too.

Not quite the same motor (different vin code), although a lot of the parts are the same. The Shelby Charger & GLH have higher compression because they use a shorter deck block (which also changes the cam timing even though the cams are the same) than the Daytona. The Daytona is also fuel injected and the Shelby Charger & GLH are carburetted. Stock HP for the Shelby Charger & the GLH is 110 while 99 was the best for the Daytona.

Also, the cars are based on a different platform: Chargers and Omnis (GLH) are 'L' bodies while the Daytona is a 'G' body.

Yes, and in my opinion you will see a lot more of that in the future. Why?

1. There just aren't any more 70 hp cars out there any more.

2. Car curb weights are going up. That means acheivable race weights are too.

3. The Process uses hp/weight as its base. So, you will see a lot of heavier ITC cars with more stock hp but also more weight -- and thus same power to weight.

I think it is good for the class, and healthy, and may be the only thing that keeps ITC viable in the future.

So the idea is to add a 100 HP stock car to ITC? Hmm...

Bob,

Just confirmed, there was a clerical error during Fastrack prep. The mention of the TB was there but the TB itself got left out. It'll get taken care of in the next Fastrack. Sorry about that.

And I bet the master tech bulletin is written from that, I looked there too :/
 
So can we move the Pinto into ITC. Afterall, it used to race against Rabbits and Fiestas in it's SS days.

I sold my Pinto so I don’t follow this forum much anymore… but, if this is the new way of doing things, the Pinto definitely looks like an ITC car.
92hp x 1.25 x 17(itb) +50(front suspension)= 2005lbs
2005lbs will never happen, I don’t think I ever made it in to the 2300’s

92hp x 1.25 x 18.84(itc) +50(front suspension)+50(displacement)= 2270lbs
Still low but might be do-able with some work and $$$

I could finally have the RWD ITC car I always wanted!

Assuming my math is right, that would be a pretty fast ITC car??? doesn’t make sense…
