Drivers Wanted!!!

RST Performance Racing is looking for interested drivers to compete in the 2014 12hr. Devil in the Dark Endurance Race.

In 2013 RST Performance Racing teamed up with Dunlop Tires to take on the challenge of endurance racing here in the east coast. RST Performance Racing had run several 4hr endurance races but had never taken on the challenge of a prestigious 12+ hour endurance race. Some of the new challenges that we would have to face included pit stop, fuel, and tire strategies as well as night racing and more crew to handle the extra duties. The challenges proved to be a huge addicting success!

In our first event drivers Raymond Blethen, Stephen Blethen and Tim Dugan teamed up with competitors Kirk Knestis and Robby Foley for the 2013 Devil in the Dark 12hr endurance race. We had a near flawless race and finished 7th overall out if 45 cars and yes, we were the only car on street tires, and we had at least two more fuel stops than our competitors! Don't let the street tires turn you off, the car and tires proved to be a blast to race on at NJMP. We were faster than a majority of the cars on track (one of the fastest at night) making the drivers stints exciting throughout the entire race. The crew was flawless proving they could also easily handle 12hrs and high pressure pit stops. See results here: http://www.nediv.com/images/results/clubracing/regional/2013/130426-ditd-results.pdf

In our second endurance race drivers Raymond Blethen and Stephen Blethen teamed up once again with Robby Foley and his father Rob Foley to take on the VIR 13hr Charge of the Headlight Brigade! This event would provide its own challenges as it was the teams first trip to VIR and it would be Rob Foley's first time ever racing RWD! Once again the team performed like clockwork... The Dunlop Direzza ZII Tires lasted the entire event once again and the drivers maintained the required pace to make our goals. The crew performed perfectly as they learned how to make pit stops including fueling, driver swaps, and repairs in less than 1min 30sec! In the end we finished 19th overall out of 59 highly competitive cars that included everything from LMP1 prototypes to Spec Miatas. Results can be found here: http://www.ncrscca.com/sites/default/files/results/club/2013/13Hour/13Hr13.pdf

So what were the top three things we learned in 2013???

1) The entire RST Performance Racing crew can handle anything you throw at them! (Thanks again Randy, Jim, Tom, Justin, Greg and Eric!)

2( Racing and crewing at night is something everyone who likes racing should be part of... 13hrs isn't long enough!

3) The Dunlop Direzza ZII can easily make 13+ hours and will still be exactly the same at the beginning as they will be at the end. They are a lot of fun to race on as they still have the same braking power, are predictable in the turns, and are forgiving even when you make a mistake. You cannot hurt these tires, give them a chance!

Last year if we ran in the E2 class at the Devil in the Dark we would have won the class, this year we plan to run in E2 and we are looking for drivers who would like to bring home a trophy with us! We are confident that with what we learned in 2013 we can once again compete for the top spot!

We are planning to have a four driver line-up, with Raymond and Stephen being two of the drivers. If you are interested in being part of it, the cost is $2,200. Drivers wishing to do more stints are welcome (we would be happy to split the race with someone wishing to do half of the race), please let us know what you want to do! This is an all inclusive price that includes:

-Practice/qualifying stints*
-Three 1hr+ stints in the race*
-Entry fees for the race
-ALL Tire costs (You will NOT be charged in the unlikely event you damage or flat-spot a tire!)
-Fuel/oil for practice, qualifying, and the Race (Its a Rotary, we add oil!)
-Priceless trackside support from the best crew you could ask for :smilie_pokal:
-All other car prep expenses including fluids, brakes, spares, etc.
-Car transport to/from the track (RV with enclosed trailer, your welcome to camp with us!)
-In race lunch/dinner
-A ton of fun you will never forget!

Anyone interested should e-mail us at [email protected] or [email protected] Please include a brief driving history and what your goals are.

Thanks for your interest, we look forward to racing with you!

*Racing has risks and we cannot guarantee the car won't get crashed at the event or break... We will do our best to prep the car properly (our track record with the RX8 proves we know how to prep for an endurance race) and recruit drivers who won't damage our life savings!

We have three drivers confirmed (including Tim above!), looking for a fourth! If it is something you are interested in let us know ASAP so we can move forward with pre-race planning. If it isn't something you are interested in we would love your feedback on why???

Trying to offer a great car at a great event at a great price. Lots of interest but not many people willing to make the commitment.

Thanks;

Raymond

Hi RST, looked all over for a phone # for a contact. cant find one. That would be the first problem IMHo.
Men with money call on the phone, not FB or PM.
While the car is sweet and Iam sure fast, the chumpemons teams ask less than 1000$ all done. I get 900$ for the Nissan, 850 for the Golfper 14hr race with 4 drivers.
. So maybe you are trying to actually get enough to come out even. :)
Good luck, have fun with it/ MM
Street tires rule.

Thanks for the tips on the contact info. We are not renting as a business to make money, just have fun and help pay for it. (We pay our part as well.) This certainly isn't a chump car and things like the transmission and rear end are rebuilt before and after each event like this. Things add up fast...

We do have 4drivers but never updated the thread. We will post the driver line up soon. I am very excited as we have a Great lineup of drivers!

All seats taken! Driver line up to be announced soon!

Mike- I wanted to thank for the reply and advice! Not sure it could be done right for less money with an ITR car... It's about 20hrs of track time when you add in testing and what not. Have you done the Devil in the Dark or VIR 13hr? To me it is a totally different level and the costs are not even close to what I have spent at the Lemons races I participated in. I need to keep you in mind on the future, would love to fly down and drive done new tracks!
