92-95 Civic CX Hatch in ITC

I just noticed in a recent Fastrack that the 5g civic hatch CX is classified in ITC. Not sure if this is new, but anyone got any thoughts on this? Could it be competitive since it has a similar CRX Si* engine, weight is like 2170 and I think suspension parts are similar to the other civic models. I dunno, I love my CRX, but those hatches come a close 2nd in my heart.

*edit*
Sorry, speaking with my ass again. CX has HF engine. But hey, whats the average hp in ITC anyway?

Funny that you should mention this, as I got my new GCR last week and finally had a chance to look at it this AM - noticing the CX in ITC.

I poked it into my "Miller Ratio" spreadsheet and it looks to be hauling around something like a 350# penalty (considering stock HP), relative to the VW Rabbit and '85-87 Honda Civic/CRX. The '89 Mitsubishi Mirage and Geo Spectrum have the CX beat by approximately 150#, if you are looking for a "newer technology" car - again, relative to the Bunny and earlier CRX/Civic. Having said all of that, it is no worse off than the '88-91 Honda Civic.

The CX does NOT have the HF motor.

The HF has a D15B6. 62hp@4500rpm. 83 or 90lb-ft@3000rpm (I've seen to specs, not sure which is correct).

The CX has a D15B8. 70hp@4500rpm. 83lb-ft@3000rpm.

The two are probably pretty similar, but not exact.

Are all the CRX in ITC carbed? Anybody know the difference in brake sizes between the CX hatch and the ITC CRX?

Well, looks like a tweaked HF engine to me. If the HF CRX is ITC, I do know that its not carbed, its same PGMFI as Si.

I am NOT the expert but my new favorite on-line Honda engine source says that the CF comes with an 8-valve, SOHC head. No indication of VTEC...

The VX is the one that comes with the economy version of VTEC, I believe they call it VTEC-E, which has ~92 hp, decent power for the weight of the car. The 2.93:1 fd tranny in the VX is what really kills it.

The CX does not have a VTEC motor. It has just a plain-jane SOHC 8 valve head.

Tyson - yeah, it probably is just a tweaked HF motor, but they do have different designations and are not 100% interchangable.
