98 GTI 2.0 front wheel bearing

Hey everyone,

I have a 98 2.0L GTI that I drive as my winter car, however, I am most likely going to sell it in the next month. I have a right front wheel bearing that is gone, anyone have one that I could buy off them? I live near Boston, and would prefer someone local, to avoid shipping, but will do so if needed. A new one is too expensive.

Since they press in, it's pretty much not going to work to buy a used bearing. Your best bet, if you are looking for a short-term solution, might be to buy a complete upright/bearing assy. off of a wreck or parts car with low enough miles that it's probably OK...

That is what I was trying to do, I guess I shouldn't have assumed that. But thank you for your feedback though!

Just was looking for someone who might have that laying around their garage before I went to a salvage place and found one.

We've probably got one but it's going to be costly to ship. There are lots of MkIIIs in NE so you should be able to find one. Try www.vwvortex.com in the classifies, MkIII Parts - post a Want to Buy and you'll hit.

Only prob is its an up grade for mk2s so they can run 10.1 rotors, and a bearing is like 30 bucks. i sold spindles for 100bucks a pair. if your car has ABS it prob 100ea for the spindle W/bearing.

i sell parts here and i looked up the price on that wheal bearing and that day i needed to order 2 mk1 bearing and long story short, i ordered 2 1j0 407 625s accedently. and not the mk1s so lett me know if you need a bearing sell it to ya for cost plus shipping. 30.00 shipped.

its not the first time i orderd the wrong parts, need rotors for a 99 accord 4 cyll? NOT A v6...
