Acura fuel filter/ 94 GSR

My car used for road racing only and I run a stock Fram filter. After 2 seasons I replaced it and just for curiosity I cut the old one in half. this black tar like substance came out of it and the element was a mess. It is a wonder fuel got thru. Fuel is 104 Sunoco and the fuell tank insides looks spotless. It appears the fuel has reacted with the element or the fuel in just the filter turned to the tar like mess. Any one have an idea.
 
Call Sunoco Race Fuels. If you happen to still have the filter, they may want you to send it to them. Where did you get 104, btw?
