Tom, it's my understanding the July 10-11th National & Restricted Regional will be using it, but I don't know for sure if that's true. That's the only SCCA event there this year, and unfortunately it's the same weekend as the Watkins Glen double national.
i happened to attend the West Michigan Honda Meet track day and got on the new course.
the ~ 180° turn is slightly off-camber and you carry quite a bit of speed to it. but my first thought is that is more gingerman.
one thing i did not like is if you go off driver's right, you are likely in for a real rough ride and am not sure if you could skip across (Teo Fabi like aka Mid-Ohio keyhole sans gravel trap) across oncoming traffic coming up the hill to the phoenix road straight.
The July 10-11 National/Restricted Regional did NOT use the new addition. SCCA did not approve using the addition for exactly the reason Tom suggested - the possibility of crossing into oncoming traffic.
