ARRC ITA Video

Shoot. What exactly happened? I didn't realize it was that bumpy on the exit there. Hope everything is alright.

I guess I'll post my ITA video up as well. I know there are also even more from other competitors that maybe would could post here as well.

Here is a race report:

Whoops, meant to post this here a few days ago!

My race report, pictures, and video are located here:

Moser Racing LLC

The video is Quicktime (so if you don't have an Apple, you may have to download it, but most people already have it!)

Andy - how bad do you wish you went???? [/b]

Pretty bad...but not quite as bad as I wanted my car to get down there. Nick couldn't take it down. Looking at the videos I think the outcome would have been pretty dang good - as long as someone who knew the track was driving! Top 10 is my goal for 08...

Hmmmm....are you subscribing to the "learning a track by video absorption" school of thought...?

Road Atlanta's a track you're not going to "get" in one shot. As an old-timer told me when I first went there in '89, "you'll be out of your league the first time, kinda figuring it out the second time, and well into to the groove by the third or fourth time."

You're now down at least two...

Guess you didn't read my post very well tGA...:) My goal for my first time there is a Top 10. My reference to a 'pretty good outcome' was with someone who knew the track driving - specifically in this case, Nick.

But I WILL surprise you...

(On edit: I should have had Kip take it down...rats!)

I'm planning on going next year and running in the GTA race unless I change up the motor to attempt any measure of competitiveness in GT1. (look for December Fastrack).

Bryan Dobyns is a great guy and will be tough to beat. My plan is to fly down and do a rental deal before the ARRC so I at least know the track. I was able to run with him at the Glen. He crushed me at Summit - that track is also unlikely to learn in one weekend. I'll rack up the flyer miles or wait - GREG can fly us down :-)

Russ Jones (944 ITS hotshoe) said RA is VERY technical and VERY fast. He loved it.

This old timer hit the nail on the head! Other than this year I've had about 20 laps on the track......not near enough. Hopefully next year will be better.

Joe, great video (and race). I really like your camera setup. Nice wide angle, and perfect positioning in the car to see the track ahead *and* the behind (perfectly setup for the mirror). Can you please share the details (camera brand/model and lens, and the positioning)?

Congrats to all the racers. Looks like it was a nice clean, well fought, fun race. RA looks like a great track. I have towed to Washington (1200 miles), but RA might be a bit far!! <_<

Thanks for the props. It just happened to end up that it got the view through the rear view mirror and it does make for pretty cool video. The camera is just a cheap JVC gr-d250u nothing fancy, I have a convex mirror similar to longacres (forget the name of company) that mounts to the roll cage, and the cmaera is mounted with a IO-port camera mount mounted on the belt bar on the main hoop.

OK, I'm really late to the party.

I need a LOT more track time at RA, and missing the practice really did me a disservice come qualifying. I knocked off about 3sec between Q1 and the race and I definitely think 43's (or 42's) are possible w/ seat time. Just watching Joe's and AJ's videos have shown me where I'm really wimping out.

I really enjoyed putting names to faces and seeing many of you again.

Here's full video of my race...started 17th (19th OA), finished 9th.

It was originally recorded in 16x9, but it looks like Google may have squeezed it down to 4x3 (even though the previews look right). It was also my 1st attempt at using TrackVision to superimpose some basic DL1 data. I definitely need to fiddle around w/ it a bit since the throttle display looks very sluggish.

I want a DVD of that Gregg. I want to see the DL1 in action.
