BAC legality

Hey gang,

I've been working on my 91 RX-7 and cleaning up all the various plumbing and vac lines in the engine bay. While not yet SCCA ITS legal (still needs full cage, and some other safety) I don't want to do anything now in terms of modifications that I will be called out for later.

Which leads me to my question - is the BAC valve legal to maintain on the car? The GCR indicates that "all air entering the intake tract shall pass through the carburetor or fuel injection air inlet."

Is the "fuel injection air inlet" supposed to be the throttle body or the AFM?

Thanks,

I suspect you won't see universal agreement on this, but I'm firmly convinced that it is legal. All intake air must pass through the AFM.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure there's an allowance to remove/disable it, so you might be illegal if you don't have it.

It is part of the emissions system and MAY be removed. If it is left in place the air is drawn in through the intake tube after the AFM so it is legal both ways.
