Car damage at Moroso

Many of you have already see the pictures in the ITE gallery of the damage suffered to my Mustang last weekend.
I now have the video of it happening on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zO08ep6eKaM

I am at a loss to explain how he did so much damage to the car.
The steering spindle -- a cast steel piece -- was bent
The inner tie-rod end -- bent
The strut -- bent..
But somehow the wheel itself, did not fail under the impact.
Yet it had to transfer the energy of the impact to all the above items.

Makes you wonder if I would be better off using a 'light-weight' racing wheel, rather than the OE Ford part.
That way, I might be replacing just a wheel, rather than all these parts.

Ouch,

Sorry to hear about it, and I know how you feel. As for the light weight wheels, you'd have to inspect them anyway to make sure they don't cause an accident. Good luck on your rebuild.
