Chris Albin's Prod/IT Car

Hey Chris (or the lurking wife)...
How competitive were you last year with the Golf in Prod trim? What parts did you change in between races?

I talked with you briefly at PRI about the slicks and the problem that presented

I was wondering if you think that it's worth running dual purpose car of if after your experiences you'd advise against it.

Bill,
Since Chris won't post, you'll have to do with my opinion.

It was fun at times, VERY stressful at others. It helps if you have good relationship with your stewards, and a couple of good friends. I will have to admit that the car was NOT competitive Nationally against 'real' Prod cars, but it was also severely overweight for Prod, and had just the bare minimum to make it legal for GP. He did everything he HAD to do, and nothing more. On the other hand, the Golf took the checker in its races, which is more than several other GP cars could manage.

I believe the slicks were mostly a clearance issue that I don't think he fully resolved with the Golf. Since he hasn't worked on the other car(s) much over the winter, it's not likely that anyone will see it/them for a while; his priorities have been on the Freightliner instead.

I don't think doing this is a realistic plan for the long-term, but it has served it's purpose.

Call him if you want (we can be found pretty easily).
