Coil Overs?

Hello,

I was wondering how coilovers work, do they fit over your stock struts, or do they take place of them, what is the point of them, if you lower your car, will there be problems with your stock struts, will they blow as if you put on racing springs on stock struts? Thanks and please help!

Simon,

IT legal coilovers use a sleeve that fits over your shock or strut. The sleeve is threaded and the lower spring perch is adjustable. You can get these from a few sources, including Koni and Ground Control.

This also allows you to (actually requires you to) use race springs. Race springs come in many lengths and rates.

You should not use coilovers with stock dampers (shocks and struts). At bare minimum you should get something like KYB AGX. They aren't the greatest, but they will handle the coilovers OK. We're still using them on our race car, but that will be changing soon.

Tubing was delivered in Friday. I'm thinking we can have them inside a month now. Some of it's going to depend upon how busy our welder is.
