hi all, first time poster here - just getting into it with an 87 crx.

we were working on our pre-season checks last night and discovered that the left rear wheel bearing is fragged. no probelm, pretty easy to replace it, but the question of wheel studs comes up. i've read in other threads that using 96-98 TL studs may be the only safe option. my question is: how do you get the standard studs out and the new studs in safely, without damaging the hub? we have a vice in our shop but no arbor press.

No worries on damaging the hub.
Support the hub flange from the bottom with a short piece of pipe that is square on both ends or a deep wall socket. The pipe/socket need to have a large enough ID to fit the head of the stud.
Press the old studs out with an arbor press, a big vice, or BFH (if you don't car about the old studs).
They will pop out very easily.

Use a simple arbor press or a really big vice to press in new studs, just move the support pipe/socket on the other side.
I wouldn't try a BFH to press them in as they will probably go in crooked.

I use ARP wheel studs. The generic ones listed for 'Honda' work fine. They offer standard length or extended length if you are using wheel spacers.
Pegasus carries them.
