What size hole should I drill in order to tap for a M10 bolt?

No, 'Just big enough' is not a legitimate response!!!!!! :D

Hi bill
The correct drill size for a 10mm bolt is drill letter "Q".
this is .3320 (between 21/64 & 11/32)
it works for 1.25 or 1.50 pitch (thread percent)
your 10mm bolt should measure .3937 to .3940

Hope this helps Tim

Wow, another great site! Thank goodness I have a computer to catalog all this stuff. Makes me appreciate the Einstein Theory of Knowledge - never memorize anything you can look up!

Hi Bill ,
After 34 years of turning bolts , I retired two years ago.
I was immediately informed that mechanics don't retire,
"they just die under cars." Now near Cincy.
