EGR Valve

As I understand the rules I can remove the EGR valve. Since this is my first experience in ITA and with a 1.8 miata I don't know if it would be good or bad to remove it and cap the ends. I would like to if it doesn't hurt the power. For some reason the header I got doesn't match up to the end of the EGR tube. Any help with this?

In my experience, power won't be hurt. A disconnected EGR will throw the CEL (Check Engine Light). I've run that way on my street car in the past while diagnosing other problems. Wasn't an issue.

The race car is a 1.6, which does not have an ERG.

I say pull and cap it.

Thanks for the advice. Smeone told me that the ECU may retart the timing if yiu bypass the EGR valve. Anyone know if that is true and if there is a way to compensate for it?
