Ethanol Blend gas or gasohol

Is there any reason not to use ethanol blended gas?
The stations that sell it here sell 90 octane gasahol for the price of 87 octane gasoline

While ethanol has a generally higher octane rating than gasoline, it has a lower energy content than gasoline. This is why Indy Cars get such crappy fuel economy. You would probably have to run a richer mixture to still get the same power.
Ethanol tends to be popular in some urban areas because it effectivly makes engines run leaner, leading to lower hydrocarbon emissions.
