Header Gaskets

I keep blowing them out (paper variety). This is a Rover V8, ITS Triumph TR8. Any of you guys have any secrets/tricks on this? Silicon maybe?

Isn't that the engine based on a Buick or something like that? If so, I'd bring a paper one to NAPA and look for a metal gasket replacement... - GA

Is the header flange flat? I blew out a couple on my Z this season before I realized the header flange had warped.

Good thoughts both. THanks guys. I'll check the flange and Greg, you are probably right, since I can get head and thermostat gaskets and the like at NAPA, I bet they have metal ones for the Buick motor.

Jeff , years ago I was associated with the Slagle Racing TR8s . we ran high temp silicon sealer on our headers. These were individual tube headers that slip fit into the collectors not a complete length flange with all the tubes . Not sure if that will help you but it is a point of reference .

Header gasket? We don't need no stinkin' header gasket. Use the silicon, senor, its muy bueno.

Maybe not so muy bueno on rotaries.
