what are your thoughts on using hearder wrap. pros and cons. It does not seem as popular as it was a few years ago

trd, We have to use it on our 2.3l Pinto or it gets way to hot under the hood! Dont want to melt tjhe battery. I feel it gives us a little hp plus make it safe woring under the hood and the rubber/ plastic lasts longer> Lobster

Header wraps will ultimately cause your headers to self destruct. I forget the physics, but it has something to do with holding moisture/condensation after the heat cycles...

It's not what you build...
it's how you build it

Another solution, better, though more expensive, is Swain Tech's White Lightning coating. It's a thick coating that is a true thermal barrier. The Jet Hot and similar coatings are just ceramic paint and only marginally effective.

Scott is correct--WRAP = RUSTOUT

Speaking from experience, spring for a coating on those headers.

The wrap may be useful on starters or other components that do not build heat internally.

Good luck.
