The Heartland Challenge Championship for Improved Touring
Summary:
A Three Race points Championship that is conducted during a Regional/National
weekend.

Eligible Classes:
All SCCA GCR IT classes and MiDiv Recognized IT classes (ITE, IT7) plus Spec 944 and Spec E30
Format:
Saturday AM - 20 minute Practice/Qualifying session that sets the Grid for Race 1
Saturday PM Race 1 – Regional Length race that sets the Grid for Race 2 and Mid Am Pts earned
Sunday AM Race 2 – 12 Lap Qualifying race that sets the Grid for Race 3
Sunday PM Race 3 – Regional Length race Challenge Champions Crowned and IT Tour Pts earned
Points Schedule for each Heartland Challenge race:
Race 1 and Race 2
First - 10 points
Second - 7 pointsThird - 5 points
Fourth - 3 Points
Race 3
First 15 points Second 7 points
Third 5 pointsFourth 3 Points
Determining a Champion:
Drivers with the highest points total in each class at the end of the weekend will be crownedthe Heartland Challenge Champion in their class.
- The winning driver must have finished 2 of the three races with one of those racing being Race #3. Note that a Finish means that the driver sees the checkered flag.
- Ties will be broken based on most number of wins, 2nd place finishes, etc
- To be included in the Championship a class must consist of at least 3 cars in two of the three races.
Awards:
Entry Fee Rebates* will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each class based on Championship results. Per race trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each class for Race 1 and Race 3.
Heartland Challenge Championship Payouts:
Class Champion = $100 Entry Fee Rebate
Second in Class = $50 Entry Fee Rebate
Third in Class = $25 Entry Fee Rebate
Third in Class = $25 Entry Fee Rebate
*Entry Fee Rebates will be mailed to eligible drivers after the race weekend
Other Championship Series points:
Mid Am Points will be earned in the Saturday race (Race 1)
IT Tour Points will be earned in the Sunday afternoon race (Race 3)
All Mid Am/MiDiv rules will be applied regarding Mid Am and IT Tour Points that are earned in Race 1 and Race 3.

Cars that fail to start or finish Race 1 or 2 or fail to run the Saturday AM qualifying session:
These cars will be gridded at the back of the field for the subsequent race in car number order. Meaning that unqualified car #2 is gridded ahead of unqualified car #4, etc. Drivers onlywanting to run one day will not be excluded
