Help with R&R Topic Organization

This forum "Rules & Regs" gets a lot of traffic. I'd like some feedback about how we can organize it better. Here is my first swing at a breakdown of this forum into subforums:

Rules & Regs
-- General Rules and Regulations topics
Can I do this? Can I do that?

-- Car Classification talk
New car classing and old car re-classing

-- GCR/IT Spec changes for '06
'06 changes

more?, ideas???

Sounds good to me if you want to break down the forum into groups.

I am a simplists, I would only start breaking up a forum when there are enough new threads a day where it warrents the breakdown. Otherwise its not that hard to find what you want on the forum.

But if your thinking the future I say go ahead with that list, at the end of each year you can close out that forums annual changes to read only and open a new one so you would actually have a breakdown of changes over the years.

Guys I'm getting a few complaints from people who are saying they can't find thigs here anymore. Should the Fastrack and Car Classing sub-forums be removed and that content be mixed in with the rest of the Rules and Regs discussion? 1 category like it used to be? :(

I'd be hesitant to make any changes yet, even those based on feedback. I do this data-collection thing for a living, and ANY time things change there will be disruptions.

I was a little tweaky about the new forum for a while at first, too but frankly came to the realization - surprising - that it was really just that I'd used the old one for so long, I had completely internalized the interface: Just having the buttons in different places is taking some getting used to, for example.

I'd encourage users to be patient and give the new system and format a few weeks to sink in, THEN think about possible changes. I'm not saying that there isn't room for improvement, only that it's early days and our intrepid webmeister could get in tail-chasing mode, "making more than one adjustment to his suspension between sessions..."

To me it all seems easy and logical.

I LIKE the way the Fastrack discussions are in one place, it makes future searching much easier.

And newbie threads being in one location might make life easier for future newbies looking for answers.

I think that it might take a bit to relearn habits, bit in the end it's a more powerful site.

Bill,

I think you've done a great job with it. Maybe a bit too much granularity, but all in all, a great job. I think Kirk's comments are on target.

:119: Currently the voting is 3:1 in favor of simplifying. 16 to 6

BTW, Aug 31st was the busiest post day so far with 122 posts. :023:
