Hey guys, new here!

Hey everyone. I'm new to the site, and fairly new to the racing community. I will be attending my first SCCA racing school in May. I will be driving #89 Mazda RX-7 in the ITS class. I am really looking forward to it. I'm young, only 17. I have been a crew member for our team for 3 years now. The car is a '76 Porsche that races in the historic class. I was told this is a great site to go for for everything IT, so here I am. Can't wait to see you guys on the track!!
 
Welcome! Where are you located? I race basically the same car, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

There is a lot of info on this site. Be sure to do a search for 'RX-7' and see what comes up!

Welcome to the northeast SCCA!!! We will be racing with you a lot in the Audi's (different class though, ITB). If you have questions, or need help/advice we have a good group that joins us at each event. Don't be shy!!!

Good car choice... The RX-7's have proven here that the BMW's are not dominant...

Good Luck in your first season!!!

Oh and make sure you keep a budget... Their are a lot of $$$ tied up in many of the ITS cars here in the Northeast... Just have fun and learn this year

Thanks guys. I'm located in Ridgefield, CT. The car is pretty solid, and not much needs to be done to it. It should be pretty cheap. Just tires, fuel, track fees... This year we are going to try to keep it as basic as possible, but I think running an enduro at Pocono is in the works. There are 2 other drivers that we are very good friends with that will also drive the RX-7 if we do it. He has a sprite. I am so excited for this. I got my helmet in the mail yesterday and have been wearing it around just to get used to it (I can't believe I just told you guys that, ha).
 
RST, I think I've seen you and your team a few times at LRP. From what I remember, you guys are pretty good. I noticed youve done an enduro or two, do you have any advice?
Oh by the way, I'm a HUGE Corvette guy, and can be found on the Corvette Forum way too often.
 
A great place to get Advice is on the Enduro Forum... But my advice is to drive a predictably trustworthy/dependable car. Our Audi's are not the best as sometimes they will run for hours and hours on end and other times they don't run at all. 2 years ago at the Glenn we had great success finishing 2nd. We had no crew, just me my brother and my father all whome drove a stint. Worked perfect. Last year the cars were even more dependable, we brought out both cars. My car ran the entire school (someone rented the car) and everything was perfect. About an hour and 20 minutes into the enduro Stephens car had complete brake loss and the car hit the wall going into the boot at 80+ miles per hour (with someone driving who had never driven before). During that full course caution My car had a transponder wire ground out and catch on fire with one of my co drivers in the drivers seat(the person who rented the car for the school). Needless to say our weekend was over and both cars got badly damaged. The Brakes in stephens car had a 1/4 of the time on them that my brakes had, and the transponder wire had been like that since we built the car 4 years ago, never with any problems. In an Enduro you can always count on something going wrong, but hey thats half the fun isn't it?

Thanks again for the advice. Our Porsche 914 has had its fair share of breakdowns, spinouts ect. This year, it spun on the 1st lap of the weekend at WGI coming out of the boot. Apart of the suspension was welded to a really thin piece of metal and it simply broke on the straight, sending him spinning, and just barely scraping the wall. (can you tell I barely know what I'm talking about on this one?) We just got the car back from the shop this weekend.
As for myself, I'll be driving as easy as possible. I believe the rule is that I have to complete (no DNFs) 2 races in order to recieve my racing liscense. I'll just make sure I got the liscense before I go for position. Even if I finish last, I'll still finish.
