IT Tire recommendation for driver development

What is the current recommendation for a consistent handling tire for IT? I'm more concerned with driver development than pure speed. I'm leaning towards the BGF R1, but Toyo is still in the hunt. Thoughts?
 
I have run the Nitto NT-01 with the IT7 guys as well as on my historics 914. I found it consistent, long-lasting, and a great grip-value for the money.
 
I haven't run the Toyo in quite a long time, like mid-00s when it was required for SM.

I'm told the Nitto NT-01 are using the old Toyo design and carcass molds.
