I don't know what I was thinking but I bought a set of solid rotors. Went to swap them and the car has vented.

Are vented rotors legal on an ITC 86 Civic? Are solid?

Did I just blow $108 or should I use this set of solid and then swap back to vented?

Thanks

jim

You'll need the solid rotors for the carbed car.
The OE rotors would be solid.

$108?
I recently bought Brembo rotors for $24 ea.

As Tom indicated, both the ITB & ITC cars use the same vented rotors and they are also the same part for Civic's & CRX's.

The only cars that used the solid rotors were the HF version of the CRX and the 1.3L version of the Civic.

Both the carb'd & injected 1.5's had vented rotors.

I run Brembo OEM replacements from Tire Rack which are about $25ea.

I get about 3-4 races on a set on my prod car before they start to develope small heat checks on the surface, but I also run two of the toughest tracks in the country on brakes (RA & BHF). I consider rotors to be consumable on these cars. I toss them before the heat checks turn into larger surface cracks.

Todd,

If you are running solid rotors on your ITC car, technically you are not legal!

Dito, what everyone else said... Brembo's are even available from O'Reily's. I have also used cheap Advanced Auto Rotors on my ITC car. Are they consumeable? Yes, but you should be able to get 4,5,6 or more weekends out of a set.

Well, I could have sworn i'd seen solid rotors on the car so I never gave it a second thought. lesson learned.

It's about $48 each for solid rotors for AZ duralast. $22 for vented. Whoops.

the old rotors were fine, I just figured if I was swapping pads I'd swap rotors too. I'll leave them on and order some vented.

Thanks Greg,

Your are absolutely correct.
I do have vented as well.

I misread the original thread, thinking about "drilled" not vented.
