ITS Mercedes

Chuck Allard had (has?) one that he used for enduros. It was a solid tool. He was trying to sell it a couple years back but I don't know if he did or not. The price was very good as I recall.

I've still got my 2.6 IT-S Benz. We did some additional engine work this past year and got 20 more HP but I haven't raced it since I'm running the Porsche in IT-S. I jumped to another enduro team so we haven't run the Benz there either. 2650 is difficult to get down to but not impossible. BTW, the rear wing is from the 16 valve 2.3 and not correct for the 2.6. The 5 speed trannys are rare.

I used to giggle at all the SP 12 Hour races whenever I'd see Chuck or the Ellingers approaching from behind in one of the Mercedes cars, because it would mean that I'd get to watch a lap of so of them either 1. out-braking anything else on-track or 2: sideways as hell in a corner, displaying unearthly adhesion levels. I think the "sideways" thing was more the Ellinger's car than Chuck's team....but still....stupid fun to watch.

What kind of whp can these cars make? To be competitive at 2650 they would need to get into 175ish range.

Jeff, Were about 10 shy of that on the local chasis dyno. Now the 16 valve has way more HP than the 6 cylinder and massive brakes. Wish I had them brakes.

...and teh 16V 2.3 needs a looksie. Add some real specs to the ITCS and run the numbers. It's a killer as classed now.

That would be a fantastic car to run in STU!!!

Like an E30M3, but with a poorer intake manifold but a superior rear suspension (multilink) design.

So the IT-S 6 cylinder Benz got totaled at Charlotte a couple weeks ago. Sad to see it go but I am not going to build another one. It was a great enduro car but not up to snuff in sprint races.
In case anyone has ideas, I've got the fresh rebuilt engine with bundle of snakes headers and two 5-speed gearboxes for sale.
