Just how fat a tire will fit

beat to death topic but... im buying a new set of shoes this week and was thinking about getting a set toyos 225/45/13 for my ITA car, has 205/60's on it now and im wondering if front spacer will be needed and wheter they will hang out of the rear flares or not. anyone running these?

anyone wondering why I would buy a tire thats 1-2 seconds a lap slower than hoosiers or khumos need only consider im just running for requirements for a national licence this year while finishing a EP car on the same budget.

I have seen people run these before but not sure what size they were. Also not sure if they were running spacers. I also am looking to by a set but don't want to run spacers. Any help yoou can giveme would be great.....THanks
 
looking at my rears with 205's the flare barely cove the tire, might have to do a little jacking.
 
Any of the tires mentioned above will work but, assuming you have coil overs in the front, if you use anything taller than a 7" spring, the tire will touch the spring adjuster and then, you will need spacers.

The 225/45R-13 Hoosier will fit with no problems with a 4 inch backset wheel. I am not sure about other brands in that size, but if you are serious about performance the Hoosier is the only tire to use anyway.

I run 8 inch springs with no rubbing. Some people do not run the G-Force Spacer which rotates the steering arm in for more ackerman so in this case a small wheel spacer (about 1/8-1/4 inch) is called for, otherwise the sidewall is about 1/8 inch away from the steering arm knuckle and can tear out the sidewall with tire deflection. And with a spacer then you need to be sure you have rolled the fender lips flat if you are running ITA minimum ride heights.

Hi Jim, have the spacers on it and am running 1/4" wheel spacers with hoosier 225/50/13 no rubbing problems and boy do those hoosiers stick to the track.
