Kill switch

this is probably a dumb one but I'm a newbie and have no friend with a racecar so please be gentle. Can the battery master disconnect switch be mounted on the passenge side dash bourd in the area where an air bag would have been? On my car this is the shortest distance to the battery in the interior of the car. Thank you- Rob
 
Here is the appropriate section of the rule. There is more to it, but this is the gist:

"All cars, except Showroom Stock and Touring shall be equipped with a master switch easily accessible from outside the car....

...CLOSED SPORTS RACING CARS, PRODUCTION CARS, IMPROVED TOURING AND GT CARS -- In front of the windshield on either the cowl or on top of the fender, but close enough to the windshield to be accessible if the car is overturned. Alternatively, it may be mounted below the center of the rear window or on a bracket welded, clamped or bolted to the roll cage or dash, easily accessible through the open window. (Drilling of holes in roll cage to attach the bracket is prohibited.)"

So, as long as it's easily accessible from outside. I personally would prefer it to be within my own reach while strapped in as well.

I agree with the remote cable setup. That is what we did with the CRX. The cable exits the cowl in front of the windshield at the A pillar base on the passenger side, with a large red plastic coated loop. The decal is also there. The switch itself is actually very close to the MAIN fuse panel. (Pictures can be e-mailed to you) The idea of having a second cable coming thru the firewall to a point on the dash is another good idea to benefit the driver. I think one could do this as part of a fire system as well.

It's a pretty simple matter to just make a bracket and weld it to the cage. Why the concern about running wire to the cut-off?
