May 5-6 Competition School at Lime Rock

Can we guarantee that the sound limit will be 103db per the supps?

I just had Saturday cut short with my exhaust at 95db when I guess PDA was being held to an 89db limit. The overall environment of going to LRP is becoming quite a turn off.

Ed, PDA has always been limited to 89dB. They are very clear about this limitation in their registration and information process. My ITA NX2000 was bounced over 2 years ago at a PDA event, but I knew I was walking a fine line when I entered.

If it makes you feel any better, PDA scored an unmuffled test day, Tuesday June 14th.

Without going into too much detail on the history of LRP, I believe 89's the limit for all HPDE events. There are only so many unmuffled and competition days available at that track, governed by local regulation and in place since the early 1960's... GA
 
I went to a PDA event and Greg's right - no slack on the 89db level.

Went to NAPA and bought and extra muffler and some clamps & brackets that I rigged to run paralell to the bumper - worked great and I made sounnd. Cost about $50. Killed power but what the heck...
 
Good to know. I must have been fortunate at previous LRP events. All my track cars were always carefully kept under 100db so I could take to a maximum number of events - but I never had seen that low limit with PDA at LRP. My STi had a great sound but was always 99db. The 240sx is consistently picked up at 95/96db at many tracks. Both of them had been used at LRP many times and had never been a problem before. I still can't find in my materials the 89db limit for last weekend.

Either way I did accomplish what I wanted to for the event - I finally am getting into the uphill apex while still carrying speed. I used to always be about 6 feet off of it feeling I wouldn't be straight at the top otherwise. So one more flaw fixed.
 
Just a note, it isn't just PDA that has the 89db limit. All HPDEs run at LRP that I've seen have this limit. Even the EMRA race events have the 89 db limit.
