OK my excuse is that I have been so busy between races putting my car back together, this has been my racing year from hell, all DNF'S and DNS'S and no points.

Hey Daryl, when are you coming back to L/S?

Ron, how was the rest of the "internals" ?

What was the post mortom? What let go first, or couldn't you tell?

Bring down your truck and help out with worker trans of try flagging. We always need more people.

Hey Tim,

A rod bolt on #4 broke and the rod went out the front of the motor, so the lower end was junk, but the head was ok, it is all ready back together, I raced it in a Honda Challange race this last weekend at the new Reno- Fernely track.

Ron, good to see your car back on track so fast after a major disaster. Did much get burned from the fire?

The Fernley track was a blast, I finally got the hang of the track after 4 track sessions. I wore through to the cords on my left front on two different tires!

I've had a bit of bad luck but much better than Rons - LOL. I had a couple of cam followers come loose and end my race after 2 laps and funny thing is I checked them before I went out. I started revving my motor to 7000rpm but the excessive vibration is causing nuts to come loose, even the one behind the wheel. I'm setting a new redline of 6500rpm, really want to finish the next race and make this motor last for the rest of the season.

Joe,
The fire only burnt up the fan shroud, fan blade, upper rad hose and scortched the hood.

I agree Fernley was a blast, I loved the s turns at the end of the front straight and the high bank turn on the back side. Wish I could have run all weekend but my bad luck is still with me, lost 4th and 5th gears so loaded up and went home early, at least I was able to drive the car onto the trailer this time :-)

My excuse is I live 6000 miles away and I have become a closet drift racer. I should be back home for good next spring. Maybe I can make the CalClub summer comp school and get into racing again.

im in a limbo right now, fri the 18th I find out if I have 3 weeks to get to spokane to start the job I have been trying to get for 2 years. if I dont get it ill see you at the next race.

Daryl, good luck if you get that thing in Spokane. I start a full time position on Monday, but since I still owe the Mrs. for floating the mortgages the last 6 months, I don't think I'll be able to get on track this year. I need a physical, renew my comp license, and then fix the car.

Joe, what happened @ Laguna?

Ron, GTI was nearly topped out at 6600 rpm as I entered the S turns. When I discovered I could take them flat out - woooohoooo! The entry to the turn was a bit bumpy and my GTI would step out as I turned in. I even accelerated a bit to 6700 rpm at the exit of the turns heading into the left hand sweeper, deep into the brakes chirping the tires.

Tim, I've been running this Capri off and on for 5 years now and for the first time, I had 2 different cam followers come loose and fall off which essentially gave me 3 working cylinders. Car still pulled fairly well although I decided to stop so I didn't permanently destroy the motor. The only change is I've moved my redline to 7000rpm and I'm using synthetic oil. For the Laguna Dbl Regional, I'm going with a 6750rpm redline and cam followers torqued to 60 ft-lbs. My goal is to finish both races.

Ron is a brave man - 4 races at Laguna in a car that ...?

It also might have something to do with the reliability of the site.

I know that I had tried to connect last week and thought it was a "network" problem, instead of a "site" problem.

Been here in the UK for 2 weeks. Can't wait to get back home.

See everybody @ TH July 9-11

I can't wait, going for 2 in a row with no major mechanical. It has been very nice to be able to put the car to bed for 3 weeks and not have to do a major rebuild on anything.

I had a off track adventure and sucked sand into my brake cooling duct, that caused the inner brake pad on the left front wear down to the metal backing plate and then the caliper failed.
