I am hoping to go to the Mid Ohio Regional on July 2nd and 3rd! First question... is anyone here going? second question... what kind of track time are we looking at? I know it is a double but how is it normally set up? 1 qual then a race and then a repeat on Sunday? Is there a practice day on friday or any other day earlier in the week? Any info would be great so I can plan my time off! Nothing is on the cincy region web site yet

Oh ya who are the tough competitors in ITB out there and what do they drive?

Hey Stephen, it would be great to see you and brother over at Mid Ohio this summer! You're pretty accurate on the format of the weekend. You'll get about a 20 minute qualifying session each morning and then about a 35 minute race each afternoon. Most likely there will be a Friday practice day but I'll have to get back with you for sure on that.

Honestly, I don't know who will be out there playing in ITB this year. I know Chris Wilke and Travis Schwenke should be around (you should know them from the ARRC last year). There's also some other pretty good Volvo's, GTI's, and 2002's around.

Let me know if there's anything else you guys need.

I'll be there in my ITS RX-7 if I get the motor built and broke in, in time. I have yet to hear about a test day at MidOhio, because I would be there in a heartbeat.

I'm planning to be there, but no idea how I'll fare in the B field - been a while since I drove the Club course there, and never in ITB. I hope to stay in the top-half of mid-pack...

Hope to be there as well, but car is still in the shop getting the floor repaired and cage installed. Also, since this is my home region's only race I may be called on to work instead of play.

Thanks! I was waiting for the link on the home page to work! I see it know in the Club section! I'm going to check it out now!

So I am running in group 6, I have an ITB car. Do you think ITB has any chance at pole for the group? I'm guessing it will be SPU out in front... if not which classes are the fastest in group 6? (group 6 ITB, ITC, IT-7, BG, LC, SRX-7, SPU) Will the top ITB cars be running neck and neck with the RX7's? I just want to get an idea of who and what I should be trying to stay up with when I go out to qualify on saturday! Also what is BG and LC? I have never heard of those classes.

I'm sending my entry today!

Is a preregistration list ever posted on the net for Cincy region events?

Does anyone know if there is a test day on the friday before the event?

who do I contact for tires before the event? (Hoosiers)

Oh ya one last thing are there any firworks in the area that weekend for the 4th.

Stephen

Very few CenDiv regions keep registration lists up before a race. I don't know why.

As far as I know, there is not a Friday test day. But if there is, it'll be more advertised a little later on.

Contact MidWest Hoosier if you need tires at the track.

I don't know anything about fireworks.

BG = Baby Grands. They're like miniature Nascar Cup cars with motorcycle engines in them. If any of them shop up and are any good, they'll be quicker than ITB cars. LC = Legend Cars. Again, smaller cars with these retro looking bodies on them and motorcycle engines. They very, very, very rarely show up so don't worry about it. SPU cars are also very few and far between. I'd still expect the top ITB car to be in the top 5 in qualifying in that group, at least.

Thanks!! We do get 2 or 4 of the baby grands racing over here in NH but they have to run in SPU I think. I haven't seen any legend cars in a long time but I when I did the Mount Washington Hillclimb they were in the same class as me. I think 1 beat me and I beat 2... arrg second to a car with the same HP, 1/2 the weight and 1.2 the size. Should be a great weekend and thanks for the clarifications.

PS I called Mid-Ohio and they said no test days are scheduled for the prior week. Darn.

There was a very quick Suzuki Swift in ITB last year. He was on the pole a few time and I believe a lap time around 1:48s on the club coarse. Having raced there in ITB for many years I would bet that ITB will be on the pole. The have not been as many B cars lately or C cars for that matter. I remember when ITB was it on group at MId-Ohio several years ago.

Yup, I remember when a ITC & ITB field at Mid Ohio could put up close to 50 cars. It wasn't that long ago either. Damn Spec Miata's....

Scott's car is quick. I'd also expect Travis Schwenke and Chris Wilke to show up - two more real quick VW's.

Doug Ford and I are planning on coming from Memphis in ITS RX-7s. I haven't raced at Mid-Ohio since '01 and Doug never has so bummer about no practice day. What size ITS field can we expect? Where is the best place to stay? By best I mean the optimum combination of proximity, cleanliness, and economy. (not necessarilly in that order)

How come no talk about Road America next weekend? What kind of turnout do they get? A couple of RX-7 guys from here are going and I'm thinking about it. Do they have a practice day?

THe last couple of years there has been between 20-28 ITS cars in a group. The most RX-7's were like 6-7. I will be there in my RX-7 would be glad to meet some new RX-7 drivers.

As for lodging I have been using hotels.com which got me a room at the Baymont Inn for $60 a night. This year the deal doesn't seem availible. I will be paying a bit more to stay at the Hampton Inn close to the track (as it looks like on a map). It usually is a good turnout, and we will be playing with the ITA cars again.

Look forward to meeting you guys. I paddock on the pavement near the Truchoice booth.

I'm afraid I'm having to back out of this one - not enough time and money (not to mention energy), running the Waterford schedule alone is giving me a real beating. I also don't quite have my stuff together as I wanted by this point, still fairly well up to my elbows in R+D.

Have fun, hope to make it to WOR Games in Aug!

It turns out that I will not be attending the July 4TH double at Mid-Ohio. I have work comitments that I cannot get out of

I have been tempararly transfered to the Cape in Mass. and will not be home until September. Come september though I am going to need a fix! I hope to race at as many races as possible since it is already June and I havn't raced yet! I guess the good thing is I have saved a bunch of money that I can put into my car. Although I still think the best money to spend on a car is track time, but o-well what can you do.
