Mid-Ohio track records

Why, are you coming out here? ;)

Actually didn't we do this thread already? Anyways:

ITS - 1:43.910, 7/2/2006, Robert Huffmaster, RX-7
ITA - 1:43.388, 7/31/2005. Joe Moser, CRX Si
ITB - 1:47.486, 9/13/1998, Craig Markusic, a VW I think
ITC - 1:49.025, 7/30/2005, Scott Fruth, Civic HB STD

Wow, times have changed. My old 1992 SSB lap record at Mid-Ohio in the NX2000 was 1:52 and change, as I recall. That was using the "chicane" going into the keyhole...

The club course uses the chicane between turn 1 and the keyhole, the pro course bypasses the chicane.

Runoffs has been run without the chicane (pro course) for the past few years. I'm not sure what year it changed.

As previously said, the Runoffs used the chicane in the beginning but in the last several years, it used the pro course (no chicane).

Moser is quicker than Huffmaster? Wow!

For now, yes. But in my opinion, the level of the ITA cars that race at Mid Ohio is on another plane than the ITS cars (we showed this at the ARRC when we had 4 CenDiv ITA cars running in the top 6). I'm not trying to "show up" any of our local ITS drivers or anything, but even they have to admit that we have some fantastic ITA cars here.

However at the last event, Rob (who doesn't have many laps there in the RX-7) showed up, only ran one day, and won overall while beating the old record pretty easily. If he continues to come back for the rest of the regionals there this year, he'll get under the ITA record in no time.

I have no idea. In my seven years of racing at Mid Ohio, I can only recall two SCCA regional races that ran the pro-course. One was just a couple of weeks ago, but it rained all day. I had the best ITA time at a 2:04 something, if that helps. :P

OK then I say we run the pro course at IT fest next year, to give us turning challenged cars a break. :D

That's pretty good if you are driving backwards. :P

Scott's ITC record was broke in 2006, Devin Box, 1991 Civic Std 1:48.50

Devin - I think all of those records were broken in 2006, or at least have since in 2007. I made that post over a year ago & Zephyr drug it up from the dead. ;)

I was going to list the new ones here, but the Mid Ohio track record list on the GLDiv website hasn't been updated in over a year. Nice. Anyways, the ITS record is now held by Brian Ehmer at a 1:42.4 and the ITA record is still held by Joe Moser, but at a 1:42.9. I don't know if the ITB record has been beaten recently.

If it's any good for comparison, the fast SMs on the Mid Ohio pro course were doing 1:41's. The air was dry and cool, and the track fast.

Kevin,

I'm pretty sure that the ITB record was broke that same weekend. It could have been broke again, not sure.

I did not pay attention to the date that it was posted

[attachmentid=1145]The track records seem to be mising from Great Lakes new web page. If they are on the Cendiv web page they don't belong there beause MO is in Great Lakes. Have attached the current MO records.

Hmmm... that ITB record is pretty old and stale... gonna have to get back down there and bring it back to the Motor City! ;)
