Moroso 24 cancelled?

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe last years problems with registration was a sign of bad things to come. Let's hope that the calendar is just messed up! It was an excellent event once you got past the gate! New Years just wouldn't be the same with out it.

I heard the same thing......
You can go to the website and sign up for their e-mail list- and voice your support for the event.
It would be nice if they could run it.....

The race will not occur on the previous date between Christmas and New Years as it has in the past. The Florida Region Board of Directors voted last week to move the race to a date in the first quarter of 2003. We have established a race comittee and are negotiating for dates as we speak.

This change was made based on input from workers and participants regarding the close proximity to Christmas. No doubt many of the negative experiences last year were due to volunteer shortages caused in part by the timing of the race during the holidays.

Please indicate your support for the race at the Florida Region website forum at http://pub21.ezboard.com/bfloridaregionscca
or e-mail me at [email protected]

Chip, Thanks a lot for the info!
We did this race 2 years in a row. For those who have never tried to race at 4AM after practicing, qualifying and wrenching all day...this is an amazing event...it's really the 36 hours of Moroso.

Preparation and teamwork come into play in a way you usually never see in SCCA sprint racing.

The feeling of accomplishment after finishing a 24 hour event is great. I'll never forget it.

Still haggling over dates etc. I know it seems like a slow process, that's because open dates at Florida tracks are hard to come by. We are working, and expect to announce something soon. Keep an eye on the web site at www.floridaregionscca.com
