NEW 020 gearboxes with 4.13 R&P

Thought I'd give you guys the jump on this....

Just received word that a number of brand new 020 gearboxes will be available soon with a 4.13 R&P set in them. If you've had trouble finding short R&P gears for these gearboxes you know that these alone are upwards of $700 if you have to buy the Hor Technologie R&P sets.

The price of these NEW (not rebuilt) gearboxes is going to be $945 + shipping. (Shipping is usually $40-60) depending on your location.

Rivets??? You guys are going to put a real diff in them right?? :023: with a bolt kit.
Surly nobody races a VW with an open diff. That's seconds per lap.
Won't know code until I see one.
 
I dont think anybody uses rivets on the ring gear except the original factory. Even dealers use bolts.

I'm pretty sure you guys have gone through this before but my A3 factory gearbox info says:
APW, ATH, AMC, CHB, CHD, CHE, DFN, DFP, DFQ are all valid A3 Golf/Jetta boxes.
 
I've forgotten now which one of the ETKA gurus got it done but we also have the option of...

3.45, 1.94, 1.37, 1.03, 0.85

...for the MkIII's, per the GCR. That's close to what Bill's citing - close enough in fact that it might be an error or a typo on one side of the question or the other.

EDIT - some of those MkIII geabox codes didn't come with the 2.0, so technically aren't OK, but James is right that what really matters are the ratios in the ITCS. If there are any NERDs out there... :)
 
Remember that since 1st and 2nd are on the input shaft the only way to change those two ratio's is by having an alternate input shaft, not as cheap as a single gear set, like for 3-5. Check the literature and crack one open and count it, it can only be one way or the other.

Either one of those would be a very suitable box for racing.

Ahh correct you are sir. I neglected to omit the TDi and 1.8L (Canada?) boxes.
However if the 5 gear ratios are the same but the F/D is the only difference then unless you are a hopeless rules nerd that is a legal gearbox as well. :D

note: the above comment is a general comment an not a comment about any of the particular gearboxs in question.
