Ok, I guess I was right in my DOHC case. But in your SOHC case, you could do an offset key at the cam gear.
I also think that you may want to take the time and run the calculations on what shaving .025" off your head did to your compression ratio. I did this for my Integra's engine and found that with a .040" overbore, anything over .016" off the head would result in over a 0.5 bump in the compression ratio. This, as quoted by Andy above, would be illegal.
