Opening the Pocono issue again...

Just wanted to let people know that I received a voice message last night with a personal invitation to a Pocono race later this year. I am sure I am not alone.

While it isn't the type of thing that will make me turn a non-race weekend into a race weekend, I do appreciate the effort and it tells me a little something about the type of people who are running the Region/Event.

Thanks for the invite, can't make it this year, maybe next. Keep up the good work.

We got the call also, and are very happy that they seem to be starting to get an organized event at Pocono (at least they are trying to get entrants). I think if they improve on all the things that have been mentioned in the past it will make a great event that will attract a lot of racers. The thing that they are doing this year that surprised me and I think is a great idea is the NNJ cup (might be the wrong name):

The driver who recieves the most points from the 2 races at Pocono and the 1 NNJ race at Lime Rock wins $250.00 and a large "Bowl/Cup." Not sure how the points work out but it is a championship between all classes not each class and it is based on number of entrants in your class. I think an IT driver or SM driver will probably have the best chance at winning.

It is a great idea although I think I would like it to be for each class or at least each race group so that smaller classes have a chance at winning something. If need be make it a little less money.

Good Luck, and may I win!!!

I don't remember but it's on the on-line forms you use to register. Make sure Pocono is checked as a track you want to 'see'.

It looks like the date they are talking about is the double regional on the 15&16 of May.

There are presently 21 cars registered for each day.

It should be a good show so come on down or up or across to pocono and join in the fun.

I'm not sure what they are doing with the enduro at Pocono for the year, but I'll ask and let everyone know.

The configuration is the same as last year. Clock wise run with a chicane on the back stretch.

Mike-

It looks like in the sups it is not the Blue Barrier chicane in the middle of the straight... am I correct on that??? If so this is the configuration that Tri Region ran not NNJ. So this will be an all-new configuration for this event. It also looks like both days will be the same configuration

I like it when things are a little different each day

John I am running the Rx7 at the regional.

Ray I only ran the Double National at Pocono last year and the chicane in the supps looks the same as we ran.I may be wrong so maybe we should ask before anyone relies on my interpretation.

Hello Group!

The Chicane is located where we use to turn into the infield off the back straight. It is a very tight right, left, right. Tri-region used this config last year in June. Big passing zone, but not much room for runoff, unless you like going Baha! See you in May!
