Pocono Results

Stephen blew away the ITB field and Don Tompson (Bildon Motorsports) was a very strong second. I think that the Alfa finished 3rd both days. Phil Hunt was quick but had problems both days that sorta ruined the race for him (missed start saturday, and spun on sunday).

In the ITS race Nick won on saturday over a BMW (not sure who was driving)... not sure about sunday.

In ITA Anthony beat out Blaney I think (unless he was passed on the last lap) but Blaney was fast... very fast. not sure what happened on sunday, I was long gone!!!

In ITC I think, but not sure that the Black escort won on Saturday.

Lots of I thinks.... hummm maybe someone else has results infront of them!!!

We had great racing thiw weekend. On Saturday I went out with only 3 gal of gas (testing for the 12 hour enduro) and sputtered in the rights, qualified 7th, and finished 2nd. Anthony built up a good lead while I had to work through traffic, and finished a few seconds ahead of me.

Sunday I qualified on the pole .1 faster than Anthony, he and I swapped places a bunch of time throught the entire race, I was faster in the chicane and had more top speed, Anthony had better acceleration until the top. I won the race by a margin of .22, with fastest race lap of 1.52.5 it was lot of fun and made up for the dismal weekend at LimeRock

I had a blast the whole weekend. The weather was the best I can recall for Pocono. The track configuration with the chicane is fine as it provides a good passing zone under braking and for those who are willing to drive over a little dirt, you can get a great run on other cars coming out of the chicane.

I qualified 6th and finished third in the Sat race. Dropped to 12th at the start (yes, it was me who caused the second waive off). I laid back to not goof the start again and had to fight my way back. Qualified 3rd for Sunday's race and was only .4 off the pole set by Driscoll. Actually took the lead for a lap or two and then my motor went sour and I had to park it. Great battle for the win Rob catching Nick under braking into the chicane on the last lap and hanging on for the victory.

Yes, Chris Johnson won on Saturday in the Escort. I almost got by him in my Datsun after getting a good draft on lap 4 or 5, but that was my only change. He won on Sunday as well after pulling away at the start with the help of my brother of all people in the SM car! Just wish some more ITC cars showed up! Great event and good weather for once....

It was a good race, even though I still need to sort out a few things with the car. Chris never made a mistake,(unlike me), so it was impossible to get by him.

I will probably be at the June 19th event at Lime Rock. Have you talked to Jeff about his plans this year?

Bob - Sorry I missed the Pocono Weeekend. Slow getting my motor back togehter after ghosting it at NHIS. Hoping to be at LRP in June. I spoke with Jeff L. He said his car was a little twisted and still in pieces back in March. He was looking at other cars but I heard took a pass on a Porsche that I think was an ITE car.
Chris seems to be running well.

Bob, Tim,
Jeff's car was bent pretty badly at the end of last year and he is busy with his business and off to a slow start this season. He did pass on the ITE car and has murmured about a miata, but is pressed for time. I think the Fiesta will make an appearance or two this year.
Tim, Did you figure out what failed on your hot rod?, I thought you were on track with the head gasket change.
See you guys soon, Drew

Drew - I had a cracked rubber air plug on the intake manifold. Caused the engine to run lean/hot and pop goes the weasel. During the race, after we changed the head gasket, still had the same cause working against me and so we hurt the motor again. My air fuel meter was showing lean but I couldn't make heads or tails of the problem. Melted a spark plug, ruined a couple of pistons, lots of aluminum shavings, ruined the head ($$$)mostly bad stuff. Hoping to get back for LRP June 19th. See you guys soon.
