Rabbit fuel tank

Does anyone have a fix for the little rubber hose inside the tank? When the tank is low on fuel- less than 3/4- we have a pick-up problem on long right hand turns. I've been told this is due to the little hose cracking and sucking air. I have another tank and was wondering if there is a way to put in a better hose or an improvement.

Dean,
Did you look in the tank yet? One of our rabbits had a plastic (hard to describe) shield over the outlet, which became dislodged. It was an easy fix, open the tank from the top and take out the sending unit, use needle nose pliers and replace the plastic piece.

Jack,
I haven't looked in the tank on the car yet. I have another tank that is clean and wondered if there was a way to prevent this from happening in the future. I know which plastic part you mean. Thanks

I've heard that you can take the tank to a radiator shop and have them cut the tank open, fix the problem, and weld the tank back up.
