It's days like this that I want to throw in the towel - I don't know what broke, don't know how to diagnose and fix it. And, dammit, I was having FUN that last race, before the car broke. I adjusted my shift light and tach between sessions (because I was using a higher shift point that the former owner recommended), was having issues with them, and didn't notice that my temp guage was pegged. I'm not quite good enough to drive hard, keep track of traffic and flags, discern flaky guages, and keep track of general conditions, too. The car seems absolutely fine now, so I'm hoping it was just a stuck thermostat, but I haven't started serious troubleshooting.

If I make Sears Point, what should I expect with the repaving? Will the track be slippery?

Hi ITS240z18

nice to meet you, I have no clue as to the track conditions after paving, just smooth.......

It might be smooth, but it also migh be real slippery, depending upon the sealer they use. We had LOTS of issues with sealers when we re-did the first 1.9 miles @ TH a couple of years ago.

Tracy, what kind of exhaust system is on your Z? It sounded like a showroom stock car. Might need to "open" it up a bit a let it breath. I was @ turn 6, and couldn't even hear your car.

Tracy, I noticed you knocked 6 seconds off your qualifying time during the race, thats great. keep at it, youll get faster and faster.

Ron and Daryl: Great to meet you guys this weekend. Believe it or not I'd say the 1700 mile tow was worth it. Racing Laguna and Sears was fantastic (don't ever take these tracks for granted.... we're stuck with TMS and TWS here). Maybe I'll be back for Thunderhill next year?!

Pete, it was nice to meet you also and I would look forward to seeing you at T/H next year. I noticed that your lap times came down a lot in the bonus race, even beat me after I said hello to the wall.

Pete, how's the hood and the windshield?

I was the guy @ Turn 9 at Sears that re-attached your hood on the pace lap. I was @ turn 6 last weekend @ Laguna.

A couple of good possibilities on the job front. Traveling to Dallas next Tuesday-Wednesday for an on-site face2face interview.

Wish me luck so I can get the car fixed, and back on the track this year.

Pete it was great to have you out, see you next year I hope. Good luck Tim, Ron, did you see my best lap time for the bonus race?, 4th fastest, im fired up about that, already got the exhaust off and switching to a better year intake/carb to pick up some strait speed. also changing some rubber bushings to sperical to take some snap roll out of it, should make my slides more predictable.

Daryl,
I noticed that, your times have really picked up since the first race at L/S.

I am going to try and make it to Button Willow for the next race and the one after that also, so hope to see you there.

Got to try and find out whats wrong with my car, never could get it back up to speed after I went off track in Qualifying, the fastest time I ran all weekend was my 4th lap in the first practice session.

Tim,
Sorry I missed you at the social on Friday. Actually it was my father who was driving at Sears who had the brain fade and didn't put the hood pins in. ( I only ran the ITX race).... add to pre-race checklist - engage brain before clutch.
I'm located in Dallas so let me know if you need anything when you're here.

Thanks Pete. I also know a couple of Agilent folks, and some ex-Agilent folks there in Dallas / Richardson. Going out for dinner with them on Tuesday night.

The ex-Agilent folks are creating a startup called www.atektech.com, and have taken over the old NextNoc Data Center, and are planning on making a go in the MSP / hosting market place.

Glad you and your dad had fun on your "road trip"

Tim,

Thanks very much for your help getting the hod down and pinned. As Peter said I left by brain in the paddock. If you'll give me your e-mail I'll forward a stroy I wrote for our regional publication. You're in it.
