SFR SCCA ITE Race #6 - Video - July 15th, 2007

Awesome video! Tell me a little about what you have done to the S2000 (it really seems to hold its own against the 'Vette).

Is it really any fun to spend your entire race trying to drive around much slower class cars?

It's ITE so you know. Anything goes.

Here is a video from earlier in the year before the SC. http://itforum.improvedtouring.com/forums/...showtopic=11715

Car was 2550 w/ me, is now 2600 w/ me. (before/after SC)
275x4 hooisers, spherical bearings, JRZ's, wing.
2.2L motor stock internals AEM EMS control.
Stock brakes
Was 235 hp is currently 300hp (accounting for dyno differences between 2 tuners) Was as high as 325 before miss-shift in qual for race 5.

I'm pretty sure the car would have done low 1:59's at thill had the handling been right (had a lose caster bolt). Best theoretical lap from DL1 (thank jlucas! ;)) was a 2:00.8 but I've done that before the sc.

Nice race Rylan, congrats on the win. You guys (Rob, Randy, Mark and you) have been putting on some great shows this year. Very fun to watch.

Nice videos. Thanks!

It is always fun to watch a classic hp vs handling race. You exercised a lot of patience waiting for the right time to move.

On another note - I had no idea that SFR races on the Moon! (or is that Mars?) Must tear the paint right off of the race cars with all that grit laying around.

Yep, most of California is a desert in the summer.

That track (Thunderhill) looks totally different in winter/spring, when everything is lush and green.

exactly. In if the track has any semblance of "willows" in it, it is a hot hole in the summer.

Willow Springs, Buttonwillow and Thunderhill (in willows).

I grew up in Camarillo and know what you mean about desert, it is just such a contrast from the lush surroundings at Road America and Blackhawk Farms.

Riverside was quite the dust bowl back in the day as well. Used to go out there with my uncle and his Formula Ford. It is a shame what happened to that place.

Rylan, you do know that T8 @ TH was a direct clone of the old Turn 2 @ Laguna, except without the bank drivers right which caught many cars, and bikes.

I worked as "response" drivers left exit @ Turn 2 for the 1980 IMSA there. Nice to hear the woooosh of the Porsche 935's whislte through there, and that turbo "chirp" is a very different sound.

Randy has come along way this with the reliability in the Camaro. He broke more last year than he did in 10 years of running his 510.

Just wait until you get your windshield blown away by Stefanowicz in his twin turbo Porsche, or Frank Emmet in his SP Corvette.

Been there, done that in 2002 when Big Bore and Small Bore all ran in Group 3. It was actually easy, since they were so much faster than you, all you did was hold your line, and they drove right around you.
