Looking for responses from Matt Rowe and Matt Green, and anyone else who has an opinion.
Have either of you added air dams to the bottom of the factory plastic? How about brake ducts, are they necessary and what did you use? I was thinking about adding plastic inlet ducts behind the lower openings in the factory dam.

Got another question - Has anyone tried on of the legal substitute carbs, like the Weber 34 DAT/DATR/DATRA/DMTR carbs? If so, what did you do to adapt the air cleaner to the carb?

Air cleaners are free.

I use an ITG on my DMTR.

It is not mounted on a Dodge, however, but if you can't work with the stock filter, toss it.
 
I haven't added an extension to the factory airdam, yet. But then with the coil over kit I have it's already significantly lower than stock. Once I get the suspension back on the car I plan to measure the current height and see if an air dam is needed.

One of my other projects this winter has been to add a little bit of brake cooling. Last season I was fighting some minor heat issues. At this point I'm not positive a Shelby Charger needs them, driving style and pad choice might make the difference. But with the front end apart to fix some other problems it was worth adding to do some testing.

Regarding the carb, I put a weber 32/36 on the car last year and would definitely recommend it. After some suspension work the season before I was getting enough cornering forces to cause fuel bowl issues with the stock carb. The weber cleared that up plus added a little bit of power at the top end. It's also easier to tune. So far I haven't seen a down side, although it's defintely not a bolt on. I'm using a "ram-flo" air filter made for the 32/36 carb, the old assembly is a little restrictive.

Thanks, all for the comments. I have three or four Holly's, so I'll stick with them until I am brave enough to fool around with a manifold.

Car went to the frame shop (restoration specialist) for frame rail, floor repair and general cleanup. Will be back sometime next week. After that, off to the tube shop to get a cage cut and bent. 71 days and counting to first race!

Denis: Thanks for the information. Rce team is on a shoe string budget - can't afford the shoes yet! I will keep the forum up to date on progress.
