Silicone Grease -

When using silicone grease to lube the pivot studs on brake calipers I noticed how easily the bubber boots (or what's left of them) slid on w/o any hassle. I've used it to help get the hose on the cooler and blower of my cool helmet and the shifter boot with the same ease. I could see it really help with R&R'ing radiator hoses as well. Does anyone know if there are any long term problems like deterioration, softening or swelling that might occur?

KY jelly will accomplish the same thing without any adverse effects on rubber products. You just have to explain to your significant other why you're going out to the shop with a tube....
