So, who's got an ee-tee-kay-ay?

I need documentation of some part numbers for what *should* be on a MkI GTI.

Throttle body, cam, and (use your devious brains) anything that might do a parts-bin swap of to make a cheater IT engine.

Thanks in advance for any help out there.

G grind cam and compression bump via 10:1 pistons are easy starting points. The throttle body on later cars is bigger too, but that is awfully obvious for a cheater move. After that the only fruitful area would be head work.

I don't have part numbers, but those are the likely moves. Also likely are larger front bearings/hubs.

BTW I have seen people just run the whole high compression, hydraulic head motor with Rabbit intake manifold. Pretty blatant, but it has happened.

They tried to justify it by running at the A2 weight. I never ran against them, but would not have tolerated it if I had.

20 some years ago there was an ITB car with Bertils cast in the head. He was successfully protested. Driver is still around and still in B.

...so what I'm looking for is documentation of what SHOULD be under the hood in a MkI GTI, and enough detail that I can point out what's wrong.

** Any PN cast into the throttle body?

** Casting marks that should be on a Mk I but aren't, or are on something else and shouldn't be in the picture...?

** Documentation of easy-to-measure dimensions of the stock cam?

** Any visual identification on the G grind cam...?

TIA

The G grind cam actually gets it's name from the G cast into it:

Most all parts on a VW have a part number cast onto them, even the wiring connectors and little rubber plugs, there should be one cast onto the TB as well.
