I just aquired a rust free 1971 Volvo 142e that I plan to turn it into an ITB/Vintage racer. I'm looking for sources for performance parts and advice. Any suggestions?

TIA,
Anthony

Contact [email protected] for suspension parts and some other goodies. They make a front sway bar, adjustable rear sway bar and provide springs to match. Almost all Volvo IT drivers are using their setup. I have never tried to call there so I don't have a phone number. They are located in PA and I'm told that Bob will answer the phone only on Tuesdays and maybe only in the afternoon. He does respond to emails pretty quickly.

You might also consider some of the stuff that IPD sells, they've been in the Volvo aftermarket part business since long before that 142E was built. www.ipdusa.com

But stick with Bob G. for most of the suspension pieces... absolutely the best, IMO.

Hi Gary. I'm familiar with IPD. I've bought several things from them over the years but only for contemporary Volvos. I exchanged emails with Bob G. and I have his product list. Also I've come across another Volvo specialist in Upstate NY (Vintage Performance Developments) who has some similar items. The underlying theme in all three appears to be that most parts are made to order so planning well ahead is important.

By the way, your blue brick looks awesome!

Thanks! If I can be of any help - I'm NOT an expert, but I can at least share my experiences - just let me know.

BTW, check your PM inbox here on IT.com for more info on retailers.

Many of Bob G's parts are sold under the VPD label. You're better off dealing with Bob directly. Most likely you'll get Bilstein's in his suspension kit as QA1 dropped the GP series dampers when they purchased Carrera. Just be forewarned that Bob's stuff is functional, not beautiful.

iPd sells a few parts here an there. Although they raced 142's back in the day you'll be hard pressed to find a "race" part in any of their catalogs.

The stance is perfect thanks to a Scandix, ipd, and KYB suspension. The paint issue on the hood needs repaired, but a contrasting satin black center panel might be a good option. The 7″ headlights are aggressive Euro units and while the smattering of smaller Hella lamps are impressive, we’d replace them with three larger Bosch units mounted at or above bumper level with stabilizers and delete the front license plate.
