STL August 6/7 Entry Form

Just an FYI:

From GIR

This is something everyone needs to know.

Illinois will begin using photo radar in freeway work zones in July.

Second offense tickets are $1,000 with license suspension. Beginning in July the State of Illinois will use speed cameras in areas designated as "work zones" on major freeways. Anyone caught by the devices will be mailed a $375 ticket for the first offense, but a second ticket will cost $1000 and comes with a 90-day license suspension. Drivers will also receive demerit points against their license, which allows insurance companies to raise their insurance rates. This represents the harshest penalty structure yet for a city using photo enforcement. The state will begin with two camera vans issuing tickets in zones with speed limits lowered to 45 MPH. Photographs of both the driver's face and license plate are taken.

I'm assuming the construction on 470 on the IL side is still in progress?

I HATE driving in IL. Having the truck / trailer / RV speed limit 10 MPH lower than the (already ignored) traffic speed is just asking for trouble (or a revenue generator - or both), IMHO.

Photographs of both the driver's face and license plate are taken.

In other news, sales of Groucho Marx glasses w/fake rubber nose & mustache soared today with business analyst's at a loss to explain the sudden demand..........

Some updates:

If you're coming through downtown St. Louis, you might want to plan some alternate routes for Fri. night/Sun. afternoon. There is quite a bit of construction going on on the Poplar Street Bridge (main bridge over the Mississippi), and they've been closing various ramps and detouring 55N and 70E.

If you're coming 70 E, the Martin Luther King Bridge is an excellant alternative. 55N guys might want to consider 255 over the JB bridge.

An entry list has been updated. See who else is coming this weekend. www.stlscca.org 's Entry Form page
