Stupid question re: rear rotors on 2nd Gen RX7

There are two screws that appear to hold on the rotor. Are they really necessary? That seems like a bit of overkill since the rotors can really come off with the calipers in place and tightening the down the lugs surely locks everything in place.

P.S.- Those screws actually get in the way of most aftermarket wheels

wait a second here. first of all the screws for 2nd gens are flat, it's the 1st gens that had the big rounded-head screws.

secondly, won't the screws help in keeping the rotor from going slightly off center? those screws exactly position the rotor. the holes for the studs have some slack in them. I wouldn't toss them. they certainly won't hurt to leave them in.

UMMMM aahhh duh!!! Yeah, you're right. He did say gen 2.
