sway bars

i made this comment under another topic, but thought i should start something new. what is the concensus on sway bars. bigger in the front? size? remove the rear bar? what exactly does it do when you remove the rear bar? help pivot the back end around?

We all remove ours...stops the rear end from binding in corners. If the rear end is too stiff, it breaks away sooner, and we already have loose cars.
 
2nd gens loose? I thought they had a tendency to push. Very common to throw the rear bar of a 1st gen in the trash!

Stiffer bar will make that end lose traction sooner than it does with a softer bar. Front bars are bigger than rear bars in most applications.

I'll let the 2nd gen specialists tell you what sizes to go with as I haven't a clue!
 
Sway bars work good for me. I run a 1st Gen RX7 with a speedway bar in the front and a heavier than stock rear bar on medium setting. The main reason I run both front and rear bars is to keep the car from rolling over and loosing side bite on the inside tire during cornering. Most RX7s have a bad habit of pushing under acceleration, if you keep the car level with the correct size bar it will help keep your roll center lower and make the car use all four tires instead of just the two outside tires. So if you use the right spring with the right bar you can make a car handle. It took me almost two years to come up with the right combination on my car. But it is well suited to my driving style and to the cars capability. I actually have more grip than power so I can drive the car pretty hard. So to answer your question sway bars do work it just depends on what feel you are looking for.
