No, it's not IT but it is WAY cool!

Actually has 8 "real turbines" at about $1500 each! Took over 2 years to build. It has a wing span of about 22 feet. Takes multiple pilots, as there are so many things to control. Think they were nervous during the maiden flight? Unbelievable that someone would make this - all real turbines!
Check out the movie link below to see the first flight.

Sweeeeeet! There are a few jet guys here that fly jets at our airfield...i just stand in awe watching and listening!!

Fascinating on both an engineering and aviation level! That thing did NOT look very stable in pitch and I was actually concerned about getting it back on board in one piece. Super! - GA

I noticed that too. I was wondering if it was just the camera angle or?? The takeoff looked as though it was in a stiff crosswind, but the landing looked pretty good! They lost one of their wing wheels it appears. And the gear looked like it was sort of retractable.

Those turbine engines are some serious items! The come with EGT sensors and ECUs, and a Ground interface computer! Now, multiply that by 8! The weakest weighted about 2 pounds and had 13 pounds of thrust at about 120,000 rpm. So thats a min of 100 pounds of thrust, IF they used the small ones. Of, if they went midsize, it was more like 30 pounds each, so 240 total. I'd like to see more about the plane.
