USERA Lime Rock Double Race Preview

DANVILLE, VA. (September 25, 2006) – The final two races of the 2006 United States Endurance Racing Association (USERA) Carbotech Endurance Championship will take place this weekend as part of the Mohegan Sun Busch East event September 29-30 at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut. USERA will practice and qualify Friday and host double races Saturday.

Both USERA races will be "short endurance" races. Race 6 will be a 75 minute race and Race 8 will be an hour and half long race. This means that team co-drivers will find themselves locked in battle not only against rival teams, but with their season-long co-drivers for these final two races.

In the Spec Miata (SM) class, teammates Chris Puskar and David Daughtery will be battling each for the Driver Championship lead for the first time this season. Third place SM driver Shawn Dewey is only 28 points behind Daughtery and Puskar, so expect a hard fought race from Dewey as he fights to take the Championship away from the two Puskar Motorsports drivers. With double race points at stake, these three drivers will be one of the match ups to watch this weekend.

Dewspeed is also mathematically still in the hunt for the SM Team Championship. The #8 Dewspeed entry sits 70 points behind the #26 Puskar Motorsports car, but only 9 and half points ahead of the third place #27 Puskar Motorsports entry. Dewey will have his hands full as he tries to wrestle first place away without losing second place.

Lime Rock will see the debut of both the Spec Racer (SR) and Touring Car (TC) classes. SR has a field of 19 SCCA Enterprises Spec Racer Fords signed up for Race 6. Racing for bragging rights, the SR class will have to make a mandatory five minute pit stop to take on fuel, and for some teams, a driver change. A smaller Touring Car field of mostly SCCA Improved Touring “A” cars will make for an exciting show as these guys always race hard at Lime Rock.

Hale Motorsports and P1 Motorsports have entered a pair of the new Mazda MX-5 cars in the X5 class. P1 Motorsports co-owner John Kuitwaard will pilot his number 09 entry and hopes to stave off racing legend Paul Newman and co-driver Michael Brockman, who both call Lime Rock their home track, in the #81 Hale Motorsports entry. Newman holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest driver to win a professionally sanctioned race in 1995 at Daytona.

There are currently 33 cars entered for Race 6 and 29 cars entered in Race 7. The combined classes will make for exciting racing as the MX-5 cars thread the needle through the Spec Miata and Spec Racer fields.

Weekend racing activities start Friday, September 29 with practice and qualifying for both races. Racing begins Saturday morning. For ticket information and directions to Lime Rock, visit: www.limerock.com or call 1-800-RACE-LRP.
