Watkins Glen 10/11/03-10/12/03

This should be an interesting weekend... It is to bad that Watkins Glen is in New York and isn't closer to Boston...

Any Red Soxs fans should be sure to head to the local watering holes to help us keep out of brawls!!!

If we keep out of trouble this week we will see you at the enduro!!!

Go Soxs!!!

Edit from Stephen: They are getting a waiver for 60+ cars in the enduro.... should be an exciting race with maximum allowed at the glen!

I know most of you guys went to Limerock but I figured I would give you an update about the glen race/ enduro. It was like limerock a wonderfull weekend in the glen and a perfect leap peeping weekend.

Unfourtunatly the race wasn't great for a few people.... we filled up that graveyard very well! The worst car was definetly a Neon that got destroyed..... I am amazed noone was injured and everyone walked away. I would certainly recomend everyone to read the safety readings on the car itself and then reevaluate if you really want to race a neon.

Added to the graveyard was my car

I finally had an awesome year winning several races and the championship, decided to go to the glen and have some fun.... I did and withing 7 laps on the long course I was knocking at the track record in class, a good 2-3 seconds avg. faster than any other car in class. My car was hooked up until my co driver went into the diving left hand corner heading to the toe of the boot with no brakes. he went in, according to the corner workers, at about 85mph went 10-12 feet in the air landed on the front bumper facing straight up in the air, spun around and landed on the nose. They couldn't understand why it didn't do an endo. The best part is that Mr Feno (co driver) was completly fine wiht no injuries... my car however decided it really didn't want to go to the arrc.

My brothers car which was running in first in ITB had an electrical fire because the transponder wire wasn't fused and shorted out on the frame rail. Not good since we ran it along the rest of the wiring harness for the car.

Dave and Joel did a great job avoiding incidents and winning in ITB. and then Dave and Bob came in second securing the Enduro championship for them! As far as the others I'm not to sure since my hands where full picking up wrecked cars.

The best part of the weekend had to be the 42 Killians that a very few of us went through at my table at the after party. Yes the glen region knows how to party... open bar with killians! Then the Bleechers Bar in downtown Watkins Glen with an awsome band and awsome locals! Great place if anyone is looking to party out there!

The weirdest thing..... Dan sheppard was at our table with the 42 beers and he was able to drive us to the bar.... is he really starting to mature?

Yes the Enduro was great! Fortunately the SM contingent did not have much in the way of problems- except Serge getting taken out.
by a SSS car.

Post Race party was great- We even got there in time to get some of the Shrimp.

Maybe Dan is maturing. Which must mean I am really old.

Sorry to hear about your car. that sucks....

I bet the reason it didn't do the endo ws the front weight bias. The "dart" factor!

What are your thoughts about your next move?

Bill,
I think/thought that their was no way for you guys to win, I'm pretty sure that's what Dave and Bob had told me. I'm not exactly sure but I"ll take it you are more informed than I and you'll probably be heading to nelson! What happened to you guys this past weekend? I was really looking forward to learning the long track from you guys! I picked up on it pretty good and was turning consistant 25's after about 7 laps. I was very excited after I got out of the car and realized I was pretty close to the track record! At that point I decided I was definetly going to the ARRC..... but about 20min later my car decided it didn't want to

that leads me to Jakes question.....

Jake, I am going to do some pulling, tugging and welding to straighten it up and then do a few events next year it would be a miracle and a ton of work if the car could be together for the ARRC so that is out of the question! Considering tomorrow I move to VT and the racecar stays here in NH

However if you have been staying up to speed on some of the other threads you may have a hint of my project for 2005 if I get it classified. Luckely I have a body shop sponser so the frame machine is free for me to play with along with friends that know how to weld in a front clip! I also have freinds that could get me an A4 shell fast and cheap!

I can't get anywhere near a :25 so I don't think there is much we could teach you!

Those guys have the Enduro championship sowed up if they run at Nelson.

A4 huh? For ITS? Make sure it is silver! Because I want to pretend I'm chasing Frank Biela when I'm behind you in my new ITS Corrado.

See you next year.
